The NJ Business Council for Childcare, a business-led initiative that includes NJBIA and other business and nonprofit groups, is asking business leaders to take a quick survey about how the childcare crisis is affecting their operations and what solutions could make a difference.
A 2026 study from Moms First and McKinsey, in partnership with NJBIA, found that New Jersey businesses lose $2.28 billion every year due to childcare disruptions. The national impact on U.S. businesses is $70 billion annually in lost productivity, turnover, and absenteeism.
Moms First, a national nonprofit founded by Reshma Saujani that partners with businesses and policymakers to address childcare as a workforce issue, is working with NJBIA and with support from the Burke Foundation and Turrell Fund to build the NJ Business Council for Childcare. The 10-minute survey will enable the council to gather information directly from New Jersey employers and advance solutions that work best for Garden State businesses.
“Responses will directly shape the council's agenda and ensure that New Jersey's business community has a voice in addressing childcare challenges at the state level,” said NJBIA President & CEO Michele Siekerka. “We urge all employers to take the survey because broad participation will produce stronger data and more meaningful solutions.”
The survey will remain open until July 31. Go here to take the survey.
