Paying your employees is fraught with legal and regulatory pitfalls, especially in New Jersey, which has some of the most stringent wage and hour laws in the nation.

According to Mike Kappel, the founder and CEO of Patriot Software, LLC, it’s best to avoid mistakes by either hiring a payroll professional or using a cloud-based software program.

“As a business owner, I know how difficult it can be to know all the payroll and employment laws,” Kappel writes in an article “There are so many that it’s easy to forget some of them. That’s probably why small business owners make payroll mistakes.”
