Seven New Jersey-based companies have earned a spot on the Military Times 2024 list of the best U.S. employers for military veterans and their families, including two New Jersey  pharmaceutical giants ranked among the Top 10.

The  Best for Vets 2024 Employers list published Monday spotlighted 237 employers in 44 states based on how these organizations recruit, mentor, and retain veterans and their family members. The rankings go beyond a company’s raw employment numbers to also weigh factors such as support programs, accommodations for veterans with disabilities, and opportunities for veterans’ spouses and caregivers.

Johnson & Johnson, headquartered in New Brunswick, which maintains a full-time Office of Military & Veterans Affairs to provide support to military-connected community, was ranked No. 2 on the nationwide list.  Among the company’s many veteran-friendly employment practices, it counts an employee’s military service toward their retirement and allows reservists to continue making 401(k) pension contributions when they are activated for military service.

Bristol Myers Squibb, located in Lawrence Township, was ranked No. 6 on the Best for Vets Employers list for its employment practices that support military-connected community. Read more about BMS’ veteran-friendly employment practices on The Military Times website here.
