Women leaders in business and government shared stories of their challenges and triumphs with more than 75 students and members of the community during the 10th Annual Women’s History Month Panel, hosted by Berkeley College on Wednesday.

Speakers included NJBIA Chief Government Affairs Officer Chrissy Buteas; Sen. Sandra Cunningham (D-31); Sen. Holly Schepisi (R-39); Asw. Yvonne Lopez (D-19); Paterson Councilwoman (4th Ward) Ruby Cotton; and Gail Gordon, Chair, GBGordon and Associate of Counsel, Florio Law Firm.

Buteas told the audience she believes true women’s leadership comes from “listening about the needs of others, what their struggles are and how you can help them.”

“How do you make it easier for somebody else to succeed, to be available and trustworthy and guide and give advice, and not be concerned with how that might impact you I think is a testament to true leadership,” Buteas said. “Put your own ego aside and really try to be there for people.”
