Catholic Charities of Trenton, which is working with Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on humanitarian assistance for Afghan refugees, is organizing a donation drive on Sunday, Nov. 14 to collect urgently needed newborn supplies, such as portable cribs, baby clothes, blankets, formula, bottles and pacifiers.

Donations of any of the specific baby items found on this list will be gratefully accepted if dropped off between 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14 at St. Denis School Cafeteria 119 Virginia Ave., Manasquan. Anyone who would like to make a monetary donation can do so on Catholic Charities’ website here.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst has been providing temporary housing, food, medical care and resettlement assistance for Afghan refugees and has asked Catholic Charities of Trenton for its assistance in this humanitarian effort. Catholic Charities has been mobilizing legal representation for immigration assistance, helping coordinate activities for the children and their families, and organizing volunteers and donation drives. In addition to New Jersey, military bases in four other states are also helping to house refugees from the Afghanistan war. These include Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, Fort Bliss in Texas, and Fort Lee in Virginia.
