CASA for Children of Mercer and Burlington Counties, a nonprofit organization of special court-appointed volunteers who advocate on behalf of children in foster care, will hold its second annual CASA-MB Golf Outing fundraiser May 15 in Mount Laurel.

The event tees off at 7 a.m. at Ron Jaworkski’s Ramblewood Country Club and includes 18 holes of golf, a gourmet buffet breakfast during registration, and boxed lunch and beer at the golf course. There will also be a post-golf buffet and an auction featuring a wide variety of donated items including sports and entertainment memorabilia, designer items, jewelry, vacations, and more.

Information on golf outing tickets and sponsorship opportunities can be found on the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children of Mercer and Burlington Counties (CASA-MB) website here.

Funds raised through this event support CASA-MB’s mission to improve the lives of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. CASA-MB helps children in the foster care system by providing well-trained volunteers that connect children to resources they need for healthy development and by advocating for their best interests in court proceedings.

CASA volunteers are appointed by Family Court judges, working alongside attorneys and social workers as court-appointed officers. They speak exclusively for the child’s best interests and have the capacity to delve deep into the child’s background and needs, handling only one or two cases at a time.

All who are interested in working as an advocate to help improve the life of a foster child, are encouraged to contact CASA of Mercer and Burlington Counties at 609-434-0050 or online at www.CASAMB.org.

CASA volunteers must be 21 and older, pass a criminal background check, display mature judgment, be willing to undergo 33 hours of CASA training, and commit to donating 10 hours of service a month for a minimum of 18 months in order to be considered for the program.
