Adam Philipson, president and CEO of the Count Basie Center for the Performing Arts in Red Bank.

On this past weekend’s edition of NJBIA’s “Minding Your Business,” Adam Philipson, president and CEO of the Count Basie Center for the Arts, talks on location with host Bob Considine about the efforts made to keep the historic Red Bank theater alive after a year of shutdown and restrictions.

Philipson said during the pandemic, the arts industry has been particularly challenged because its workers aren’t front line, and there has been little to no influx of revenue coming for many venues throughout the state.

“I think once we start seeing those (capacity) levels go up, you’ll start to see all of the venues open up again – which will mean tours will come back,” Philipson said. “I think a lot of the tours have pivoted toward September, so we’re looking at the fall to start coming back to some normalcy.”

The entire interview with Philipson can be found here.

NJBIA’s “Minding Your Business” is a weekly TV show that can be viewed at 9:30 a.m. on News 12+ Saturday and Sunday. To see all past episodes of NJBIA’s “Minding Your Business,” click here.
