Trenton–Princeton ranks second among small U.S. metropolitan areas for people with AI enhanced jobs according to a recent study by CoworkingCafe.

Performance indicators of the Trenton-Princeton area in the report include:

  • Highest volume of new AI job postings: 685 openings (Nov. 2024–Nov. 2025)
  • 2nd largest coworking network: 20 locations across the metro
  • 14th highest AI industry concentration: AI occupations are 53% more concentrated than the national average
  • 18th highest average AI-related salary: $125,652 per year
  • Cost of living 2.1% above the national average: Near national price parity
  • 23% high-speed fiber coverage: Providing foundational high-speed connectivity

The CoworkingCafe study identifies which regions are leading in AI industry growth and which offer the strongest mix of opportunity, pay and livability for technical professionals.

More than 300 metropolitan areas were measured. They were grouped into large, mid-sized and small population brackets, across employment, salaries, job concentration, cost of living, broadband readiness and coworking infrastructure.

Boulder, Co. finished first among smaller metros (markets with fewer than 500,000 residents).

The New York City metro area finished second behind San Jose, Ca. for large metropolitan AI strongholds.
