The Solid Waste Recycling Enhancement Act (REA) Higher Education Research Grant Program is accepting applications from New Jersey colleges and universities through 3 p.m. on April 24.

Approximately $2 million has been allocated for this grant opportunity for New Jersey institutions of higher education for projects designed to enhance existing recycling resources, tools or methodologies, or create new resources, pursuant to the Recycling Enhancement Act.

Awardees and grant amounts will be selected based on the proposal, selection criteria, and available funding. Preference will be given to proposed projects in which an applicant will partner with a qualified entity with specific expertise that enhances the proposed project.

Application instructions, including 14 suggested research topics, can be found here: FY25 and FY26 REA Research Grant NoFA. Selected projects will be notified in July.
