On Monday afternoon, the Department of Environmental Protection released draft revisions to the New Jersey Statewide Water Supply Plan and scheduled three public hearings this summer on the draft proposal. The current plan was last revised and adopted in 1996.

The New Jersey Water Supply Management Act (N.J.S.A. 58:1A-1 et. seq.) directs the DEP to develop and periodically revise the New Jersey Statewide Water Supply Plan to improve the management and protection of the state’s water supplies.

The draft revisions are available here.

The DEP will conduct public meetings on the draft plan on these dates:

  • Tuesday, July 11 at 1 p.m., 401 E. State St., Trenton.
  • Wednesday, July 12 at 3 p.m., Millburn Public Library, 200 Glen Ave., Millburn.
  • Thursday, July 13 at 1 p.m., Stockton University, 101 Vera King Farris Drive, Galloway, Campus Center, Board of Trustees Room.

The DEP will consider comments made at these meetings and any comments received by the close of business on Wednesday, July 19, which is five days after the last public meeting, before formally adopting the draft plan.

Electronic comments may be submitted to: watersupply@dep.nj.gov. Please write “Draft Water Supply Plan Comments” in the subject line.

NJBIA is asking for your feedback and comments on the proposed plan. Please share with Sara via email.
