Entrepreneur Jennifer Fleiss, the co-founder of the two successful e-commerce businesses Rent the Runway and Jetblack, will be keynote speaker at NJBIA’s 5th Annual Women Business Leaders Forum “Owning Your Success” on Sept. 20.
“Jennifer Fleiss is an inspiring innovator who has launched successful companies that are disrupting the online retail business model and changing the future of e-commerce,” said NJBIA President & CEO Michele Siekerka. “We are thrilled she will be sharing that energy and insight with the hundreds of men and women attending this year’s Women Business Leaders Forum.”
Rent the Runway launched in 2009 as an innovative startup renting high-end designer dresses to online customers at affordable prices. Today, Rent the Runway is a $1 billion company with 11 million subscribers, and has expanded its product line beyond special occasion dresses to include high-end casual clothing, as well as designer children’s wear and home goods.
In 2018, Fleiss co-founded her latest startup, Jetblack, where, as CEO, she is disrupting the world of e-commerce once again. Jetblack is a personal concierge shopping service that allows subscribers to use text and voice messages to order everything from paper towels to designer handbags.
Jetblack is the first portfolio company within Walmart’s technology incubator, known as Store No. 8. The standalone companies within the incubator focus on various emerging trends in retail, such as artificial intelligence and conversational commerce, which are changing consumers’ lives. As CEO of a company within this incubator, Fleiss is helping to shape innovation and the future of retail.
