Shoppers and patrons now have a new place to find businesses in Fair Lawn—the Fair Lawn Marketplace. It’s a website that features digital listings of more than 600 local shops, businesses, and other organizations.

The Fair Lawn Economic Development Corporation and Fair Lawn Chamber of Commerce will commemorate the completion and launch the new site at a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Wed., Oct. 19 at the Fair Lawn Athletic Club. The launch of the site happens to coincide with the borough’s new Main Street New Jersey designation, a program run by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to help revitalize downtowns.

The Marketplace initiative was launched in 2021 by corporation to “support the mission of locally-owned/locally-driven prosperity,” according to the new website. Users are able search by category as well as look at an overall listing of businesses.

“Fair Lawn was just ranked third in the nation for best suburban communities,” said Fair Lawn Mayor Kurt Peluso. “This is a recognition we will continue to build on and establishing Fair Lawn Marketplace is a major step in that direction as we strengthen our support to our businesses.”

Fair Lawn Economic Development Corp. Board Member Frank Hall added that the corporation sought to “achieve a few different things with the Fair Lawn Marketplace website.”

“First, we wanted to give all of the businesses and other organizations in town a digital platform.  Even if they don’t have their own web presence, they’ll be findable on a site that represents each one on an equal footing, with no paid posts cluttering up the results.

“Secondly, as Fair Lawn is a sizeable community, with business districts in several areas, we wanted to make sure residents in each part of the borough are aware of the totality of what Fair Lawn offers.

“Finally, it was important to demonstrate to new businesses that Fair Lawn is a town that supports its local business community.  When you arrive in town, we’ll get you on the site – free.”

Fair Lawn Main Street Executive Director Ryan Greff added: “The Fair Lawn Marketplace represents a great asset to all businesses in Fair Lawn. All are welcome to attend the launch event on October 19th.”
