We will be joined by Assemblywoman Carmen T. Morales, Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, who will share her and the Committee’s priorities for this legislative session.
Additionally, Sharon Levine, Campaign Director for Start Strong NJ will share insights about childcare and its impact on New Jersey’s workforce and economy.
Lastly, Darren Oommen and Abhiraj Kesari, high school students and founders of myintern.net, will talk about their new endeavor to connect high school students to internships and how businesses can get involved.

Meet the Speakers
Assemblywoman Carmen Theresa Morales
Deputy Whip, Chair, Assembly Higher Education CommitteeAssemblywoman Carmen Theresa Morales is a dedicated education professional and Assemblywoman representing New Jersey’s 34th Legislative District. She currently serves as Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Essex County Schools of Technology, bringing over 26 years of experience in education. Prior to this role, she was Principal of her alma mater, Essex County Newark Tech High School, where she began her journey as a passionate advocate for student success. A first-generation college graduate, Dr. Morales earned a Bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University, a Master’s from Fairleigh Dickinson University, an Education Specialist degree and her Doctorate in Education from Seton Hall University.
As the first Puerto Rican Assemblywoman from Essex County, she serves on key committees including Higher Education, on which she serves as chairwoman; Science, Innovation, and Technology; and Appropriations, championing education, community development, and women’s empowerment. She is also a lifetime member of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., holding numerous leadership roles.
