If you’re not investing in social media, chances are your competitors are.

A website called The Manifest says nearly all small businesses plan to invest more time and money in social media in 2018, and that Facebook remains their favorite, even with the recent privacy scandal involving Cambridge Analytica.

The Manifest bases these conclusions on a survey it conducted of 351 owners and managers at U.S. companies with fewer than 500 employees.  Among the results:

  • 92 percent small businesses plan to invest more time and money in social media in 2018;
  • 58 percent want to increase their investment in Facebook; and the scandal isn’t slowing them down.
  • 46 percent use paid social media advertising and are shifting their budget from more traditional forms of marketing.
  • 85 percent of businesses with more than 51 employees invest in social media, while only 58 percent of businesses with 1 employee invest in it.
