Nominations for the New Jersey Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards are due Sept. 6, so if you know anyone who qualifies in one of the five categories, get those nominations ready.

NJBIA is a partner of the program, along with a dozen other organizations.

The awards were created to highlight the history and academic influence of New Jersey’s immigrant entrepreneurs and their contributions to communities throughout the state.

New Jersey’s immigrant entrepreneurs have a distinguished history. Over the years, they have been responsible for the invention , the modern brassiere, the submarine, Vitamin C, the chemical synthesis of penicillin, and instant coffee. Iconic companies like Lipton Tea, Welch’s Grape Juice, Ballantine beer, and Colgate-Palmolive were all founded by immigrant entrepreneurs from New Jersey.
