A delegation of local elected officials, business, community and education leaders from northwest Indiana are visiting New Jersey early next week to observe successes in development in four different cities and to return with lessons learned.

One Region, a nonprofit organization, is bringing the group of 30 to the Garden State. One Region’s mission is to grow population, to attract and retain talent, and increase household income in northwest Indiana.

The delegation will visit Jersey City, Hoboken, Newark, Asbury Park and Trenton as part of One Region’s inaugural benchmarking tour, with the goal of assessing how New Jersey leveraged and built assets to the benefit of their region economically and qualitatively.

One Region represents Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties with a population of 760,000 in areas that are adjacent to Chicago. One Region President and CEO Leah Konrady said in a press release its group will be looking to see how New Jersey has leveraged its proximity to New York City and Philadelphia using partnerships between cities, local organizations and public input.
