Experienced healthcare attorney David A. DeSimone, who has previously served as chief legal counsel and chief strategy officer for integrated healthcare systems across New Jersey, recently joined the Genova Burns law firm.

Along with his new role as of counsel to Genova Burns, LLC, DeSimone also serves as chief counsel and compliance officer for Ohio Living, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit aging services organizations.

DeSimone has over fifteen years of proven leadership experience in the healthcare industry. In previous roles with CentraState Healthcare System and AtlantiCare Health System, he was an integral part of strategic planning and growth initiatives that exceeded $1 billion for these institutions. He has also served as vice president/general counsel for Catholic Health and Human Services and as associate general counsel for Hackensack Meridian Health System.

A finalist for the NJBIZ Healthcare General Counsel of the Year Award in 2017 and 2018, DeSimone has experience working successfully with in-house counsel, C-suite leaders, medical leaders, and CEOs to develop health system initiatives while assisting with compliance and strategy challenges.

DeSimone has created innovative joint venture structures for health systems, ambulatory surgery centers, long-term care facilities, physical therapy, and physician practices. He is a past member of the Program Committee of the Physician and Hospital Institute of the American Health Law Association (AHLA), a co-chair of AHLA’s Accountable Care Organization Task Force and participated on the wage task force and property tax task force of the New Jersey Hospital Association.

DeSimone earned his juris doctor degree from Seton Hall University School of Law, along with a master’s degree in healthcare leadership and a bachelor’s degree in organizational behavior and management from Brown University.
