The New Jersey Council of County Colleges and the state's 18 community colleges will hold a multiday “Opportunity in Action Summit” June 9-11 that will explore strategies for turning policy and partnerships into successful outcomes for learners and workers.
The conference will bring together community college faculty, staff, trustees, and presidents alongside partners from K–12 education, four-year colleges and universities, employers, unions, community-based organizations, the public workforce system, and state and local government, who all share a commitment to educational and economic opportunity.
Participants will hear from state and national leaders and learn about effective practices that underscore the increasingly critical role that community colleges play in expanding access and opportunity and responding to workforce needs in key industries.
The conference takes place June 9-11 at the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City. The agenda and registration information can be found here.
The keynote presentation on June 10 features Davis Jenkins and Hana Lahr, from the Community College Research Center, who will share research-based strategies that community colleges have implemented nationally to improve success.
Participants who cannot stay for the entire three-day conference have the option to register for the June 9 session only, which is focused on the New Jersey Pathways to Career Opportunities initiative that has partnered education and industry to work together to strengthen New Jersey’s talent pipeline by expanding skills, credentials of value, and career opportunities.
