The National Tax Foundation recently looked at the property tax burdens on the 50 states and Washington, D.C. and found that New Jersey has the third highest per capita property taxes in the nation.

New Jersey’s property tax costs every person an average of $3,276; only New Hampshire at $3,307 and D.C. at $3,496 were more burdensome. The national average is $1,617 per capita. All figures are from fiscal year 2017.
