The New Jersey Business & Industry Association has signed on to a letter supporting a new rule revising the federal interpretation of independent contract status under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The letter, written by the New Jersey Civil Justice Institute, was sent to the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, on Oct. 26.
According to the letter, the proposal is supported because its purpose is to “promote certainty for stakeholders, reduce litigation and encourage innovation of the economy.”
