The Fourth Annual Energy Policy Conference, October 15, 2024 REGISTER

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities will host a supply chain and workforce development information-gathering meeting for its Second Offshore Wind Strategic Plan at Stockton University’s Atlantic City campus, Oct.  9.

The meeting from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. will include a broad and diverse audience, with representatives from academia, developers, government agencies, labor organizations, original equipment manufacturers and other suppliers, infrastructure owners and operators, non-governmental organizations, workforce development organizations, and other interested parties.

The objective is to foster stimulating and productive discussions that facilitate sharing of interdisciplinary perspectives. Invited attendees will explore individual and shared interests for offshore wind project development in New Jersey, identify challenges in avoiding, minimizing, and mitigating potential adverse environmental impacts, and explore opportunities for maximizing economic development and job creation from offshore wind energy development.

The initial New Jersey Offshore Wind Strategic Plan (OSWSP1), a collaborative effort of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, New Jersey Economic Development Authority, and state Department of Environmental Protection, was released in September 2020. The analyses performed as part of OSWSP1 facilitated the advancement of New Jersey’s offshore wind industry.

In response to the rapidly changing offshore wind market, macroeconomic factors, and geopolitical climate, and building upon OSWSP1, New Jersey is developing a Second Offshore Wind Strategic Plan (OSWSP2). The information-gathering meetings will help inform the development of a draft OSWSP2, which will be made available for public comment.

Additional meetings and other engagements with these and other audiences are underway in connection with the development of the Second Offshore Wind Strategic Plan.
