In an op-ed on the business news site BINJE, NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka noted the business-friendly approach Gov. Mikie Sherrill has taken during her first six weeks in office and praised many of the administration’s priorities outlined in 10 transition team reports.

Sherrill’s early executive orders have been focused on affordability, and she has stated her intention ahead of her first budget address on March 10 to bring fiscal discipline to the state’s finances, Siekerka said. The administration has also been engaged and receptive to input from the business community, creating a constructive process even where disagreements may arise.

“The Sherrill administration has taken a thoughtful and deep policy approach to improving the Garden State,” Siekerka said, noting that some goals contained in Sherrill’s transition reports mirror recommendations NJBIA made in its Blueprint for a Competitive New Jersey. Other proposals in the transition reports are "fresh ideas we can get behind to bring much-needed improvement to our business climate,” Siekerka said.

Although all 10 transition team reports are worth a read, Siekerka said members of the business community should be particularly interested in these four:

“As stakeholders, whether a business association or simply a resident who cares about the future of our state, we owe it to this new team to check out these recommendations and provide feedback to keep them moving forward during this governorship,” Siekerka said.
