Public Service Electric & Gas, New Jersey’s largest utility, has been recognized by PA Consulting as the recipient of the 2022 ReliabilityOne Award for Outstanding Reliability Performance in the Mid-Atlantic Metropolitan Service Area.

ReliabilityOne Awards are given annually to the utilities that have achieved outstanding reliability performance and have excelled in delivering the most reliable electric service to their customers. This honor marked the 21st consecutive year that PSE&G has received the Mid-Atlantic Region award.

“It is a tall order to maintain excellent reliability standards for 21 years and we thank our employees for their constant dedication, which allows us to provide outstanding reliability to our customers every day,” said Paul Toscarelli, PSE&G senior director of Electric Operations & Operations Support.

“The ReliabilityOne® awards also give us an opportunity to raise awareness about PSEG’s Powering Progress vision – a future in which people use less energy, that energy is cleaner and delivered more reliably than ever,” Toscarelli said.

PSE&G prepares year-round for extreme weather to maintain reliable service for our customers, he said. Ten years after Superstorm Sandy raged across the East Coast, PSE&G continues to work to protect customers’ utility service from the damaging impact of extreme weather by strengthening and upgrading its infrastructure.

All utilities operating dense electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for consideration for the ReliabilityOne Award. There are eight metropolitan service regional awards including Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Plains, Mountains, West, Southeast, and Southwest. The selection of provisional recipients is based primarily on system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages.

After provisional recipients are selected, each company undergoes a certification process which provides an independent review and confirmation of the policies, processes and systems used to collect, analyze and report a company’s reliability results.

“Grid sustainability continues to be a major issue that the industry must take more seriously,” said Gregg Edeson and Derek HasBrouck, PA Consulting’s ReliabilityOne co-program directors. “This year we are celebrating utilities who are providing high levels of reliability and resilience while integrating clean energy assets and greater clean resource diversity into their operations. Congrats to PSE&G for their clean energy efforts.”
