The RVCC Foundation, the fundraising arm of Raritan Valley Community College, raised $162,075 at the 22nd Annual RVCC Foundation Golf Classic, a sellout that included enthusiastic golfers representing businesses from Hunterdon and Somerset counties and beyond.
The event, held June 15 at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course, is the nonprofit foundation’s largest, in-person fundraising event. This year’s Golf Classic attracted 56 corporate sponsors including title sponsor, DeSesa Engineering, and link sponsor, LJS Electric.
“This is always a popular event, as it brings people together in a beautiful setting for some networking and a little friendly competition—all in support of Raritan Valley Community College,” said Mike Marion, executive director, RVCC Foundation and RVCC Alumni Association.
“We are grateful to all of our participants and our generous corporate sponsors, but especially our title sponsor this year, DeSesa Engineering,” Marion said.
In addition to the golf sponsors, the event raised $6,500 for a special “FUEL THE RIDE” initiative, which benefits the RVCC Resource Center and Food Pantry. The balance of the net proceeds will support scholarships, educational programming, and other strategic RVCC initiatives.
In keeping with tradition, the day’s festivities were very much student-focused and included the National Anthem sung by Sarah Stefaniak (Class of 2026). The event also featured Automotive Technology student Ethan Tassio (Class of 2026), who addressed the gathering at a dinner following the day of golfing.
On the course, RVCC Arts & Design student Aria Mongiello (Class of 2026) created an oil painting of the Neshanic Valley landscape, and each golfer received a pack of blank note cards featuring cover art by Arts & Design students Giavonna Lee, Delia McHendry, Kathryn O’Hara, Ashraf Maarouf, Maria Mejia, Yun Zhu, and Alma Walker.
The RVCC Foundation provides the resources that enable the college to enhance its programs beyond public and tuition sources and to maintain its standing as a premier academic institution and one of the most important sources of culture and continuing education in Somerset and Hunterdon counties.
