Raritan Valley Community College and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) have entered into a new agreement that will facilitate the transfer process for RVCC graduates interested in attending the STEM-focused research university in Massachusetts.
According to the agreement, students who earn an associate degree from RVCC may seamlessly transfer to WPI to complete their bachelor’s degree, provided they fulfill certain requirements.
This includes graduating from RVCC with the requisite grade point average; successfully completing one college-level precalculus or calculus course and one college-level laboratory science class; and satisfying all WPI admissions requirements. Once enrolled at WPI, qualified students may be eligible to pursue graduate programming at the university.
The new articulation agreement also offers financial benefits to RVCC students transferring to WPI, including waiving the application fee. Some students may qualify for the Phi Theta Kappa scholarship, as well as other need-based and federal student loans.
RVCC students admitted to WPI would be offered an academic merit scholarship and are eligible to apply for a need-based Global Scholarship. In addition, students transferring to WPI may receive a summer undergraduate course tuition waiver for each of their two summers at the university.
“We are excited to partner with Worcester Polytechnic Institute to provide new opportunities for RVCC students, especially those interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree in the sciences,” said Sarah Imbriglio, RVCC Dean of STEM.
“The agreement will offer additional pathways for graduates who are interested in continuing their higher education at a prestigious technical university,” Imbriglio said.
