Appearing on Bill Spadea’s new show, Speak for America, on ONNJ, NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka said it’s difficult to determine whether the Climate Superfund Act will lead to more companies leaving New Jersey.
But she also said it’s another in many anti-business considerations that make the Garden State less than appealing for major job providers.
“I'd be guessing at, you know, is this going to be the straw that breaks another camel's back?” Siekerka told Spadea. “But we just see time and time again, New Jersey businesses deciding that when another bad policy comes out, I'm not waiting anymore.
“The challenge here is that we just continue to penalize our job creators when we already have a challenging business climate. Oftentimes we’re at the bottom of the list, and then we come up with another (bad) policy. And we have no reliability, predictability or certainty for businesses.
“We change our taxes and our rules each and every day. When you change the rules of engagement, these businesses cannot invest, cannot create new jobs, cannot make investment in their facilities, or most important to all of it, invest in their local communities,” Siekerka said.
