NJBIA President & CEO Michele Siekerka will discuss the impact of Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s FY27 budget proposal on the business community during two media appearances tonight (Wednesday).
Siekerka will be a guest on New Jersey 101.5 radio’s “Jersey Thing” broadcast with host Eric Scott tonight at 6 p.m. and will also appear with NJ Policy Perspective Senior Anaylst Peter Chen on "NJ Spotlight News with Briana Vannozzi," a newscast which airs on NJPBS at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
The governor delivered her $60.7 billion budget proposal to a joint session of the Legislature on Tuesday. The plan includes $2 billion in spending reductions but also makes changes to business taxes, including a proposal to force businesses to pay a new fee if they have over 50 employees receiving Medicaid benefits.
The governor’s budget address is the starting point for a months-long process of legislative budget hearings. The state constitution requires that the final budget be adopted before the new fiscal year begins on July 1.
