Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto today said he would introduce legislation to expand New Jersey’s paid family leave program, increasing both the length of paid time off available and the amount of benefits that participants receive.
NJBIA issued a statement saying it is concerned about the impact that proposal will have on member companies, most of which are small businesses with fewer than 50 employees. “We look forward to participating in discussions with the Assembly and thank the speaker for including us in those deliberations,” the statement said.

I think the speaker himself should take a permanent leave. Apparently he has never
run a buisness. If you have 10 or 15 employees that are specifically trained in the
service you provide and a key person or persons take this family leave it can possibly mean that when they come back there won’t be a job because the customers are going somewhere else for their service. We usually stagger vacations to keep our customers and thus our jobs.
Well said, these so called law makers/legistrators must have experience before they propose any laws.
