The Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce is inviting business executives and government leaders to State of the Joint Base, a program at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL) that highlights the installation’s role in national security and New Jersey’s economy.

Preregistration is required for this event at the military base, which takes place from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25. Participants will meet the nation’s warriors, participate in interactive displays, and learn how regional New Jersey businesses can contract with the U.S. Department of Defense. Breakfast and networking opportunities are included in the program.

For security reasons, guests must submit their Social Security number and date of birth in advance when registering to attend. On the day of the event, registered guests must show their Real ID or U.S. Passport to enter the military base. The registration deadline is Sept. 15.

JB MDL is one of the nation’s largest military installations, covering over 42,000 contiguous acres in Burlington and Ocean counties. The base is home to more than 80 military units, agencies and other organizations, supporting missions ranging from air mobility and Army training to Navy aviation research and development.

With more than 42,000 active-duty service members, civilians and family members who live and work on and around the installation, the base is New Jersey’s second-largest employer and a major economic engine with an estimated $3 billion economic impact. JD MDL is also a significant source of government contracting opportunities, especially for businesses in the central and southern portions of the state.

According to JB MDL, 63% of its contracts are awarded to small businesses, making the base important to New Jersey companies that provide construction, engineering, technology, logistics, professional services, supplies and other goods.
