Businesses and people who live or work in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem counties are urged to participate in NJ TRANSIT’s South Jersey transit needs survey to help the agency improve public transportation in the region.
The survey is part of the Southern New Jersey Transit Market Study that is analyzing current and future development and employment patterns to recommend ways to improve connections to jobs, schools, recreation, and other vital services such as healthcare.
By identifying service gaps and gaining community feedback, the study aims to propose innovative, sustainable solutions that meet the region’s long-term transportation needs.

For the purposes of the survey, public transportation includes NJ TRANSIT bus, rail, light rail, and Access Link, a public, shared-ride paratransit service for people with disabilities who cannot use local fixed-route bus or light rail systems. The survey also includes county or town buses or shuttles, and private commuter buses.
The overall study is scheduled to conclude in 2027. NJ TRANSIT will gather the perspectives from people who live, work, and travel to the study area through the online survey, local community events, and upcoming virtual public meetings.
The survey can be completed anonymously. Participants have the option to share their contact information if they want updates about the study or would like to take part in follow-up questions. Sharing contact information is completely optional.
