On this past weekend’s episode of Minding Your Business on News 12+, New Jersey Council of County Colleges Chief Innovation and Policy Officer Maria Heidkamp, NJBIA Vice President of Government Affairs Althea D. Ford and YMCA State Alliance CEO Julie Gallanty joined Bob Considine to discuss  New Jersey’s Opportunity Agenda.

The agenda is a collective road map for a Future Ready New Jersey, which includes the goal of having 75% of New Jersey adults in the labor market to have postsecondary degrees or credentials of value by 2040.

“We realized… that the world is really changing, some of that is technology… but it’s also demographics and other changes in the labor market,” Heidkamp said. “We also know in recent years that higher education has faced a lot of challenges. Some of that is legitimate concern about the return on investment for degrees and credentials, some of it is a lot of worry about the high cost and soaring student debt.

“So we came together and realized we needed to do things differently, more systematically, more collaboratively and that led to the creation of the opportunity agenda.”

NJBIA’s “Minding Your Business” is a weekly TV show and the winner of seven Telly Awards over the past three years, including a gold 2024 Telly in the Interview & Talk Show category. It airs on News 12+ at 9:30 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday, as well as 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
