The uptick in COVID-19 cases in New Jersey has been linked to social gatherings and youth contact sports are now permitted in the state.

So NJ101.5 News’ David Matthau begged the question: Why not raise the capacity of indoor dining?

NJBIA CEO and President Michele Siekerka told Matthau that taking a regional approach to allow local officials to determine what’s good for their businesses and residents would help New Jersey get out of its pause mode.

“(Businesses are) hanging on literally by a thread at this point,” she said. “Right now we need to be bringing more resources to the business community, especially our main street businesses.

Siekerka added that businesses have followed all safety guidelines and protocols diligently, so moving forward “we need to continue to trust that the business community will continue to be responsible and increase their capacity so they can continue to thrive and survive.”
