YWCA Northern New Jersey recently announced its new executive committee for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.
Bringing together accomplished leaders from business, finance, law, healthcare, engineering, and community service, the Executive Committee will help guide the organization as it continues its mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and strengthen communities throughout Northern New Jersey.
New YWCANNJ executive leaders include:
- Janet Hill Smith, Board President
- Marlie Massena, 1st Vice President
- Shawanna Bailey, 2nd Vice President
- Jennifer Mannino, Secretary
“The times we are living in present unique challenges for women and girls, especially for those whose experiences reflect my own,” said Smith. “Now, more than ever, it is critical that we use our voices to advocate, create opportunities, and remove barriers.
“We must be intentional about the relationships we build and the partnerships we forge,” Smith said. “YWCA Northern New Jersey will continue showing up, making a difference, and standing alongside the women, girls and communities who need us most.”
A Critical Time for Community Investments
Following a challenging 2025–2026 fiscal year that resulted in the loss of more than $1 million in funding, YWCA Northern New Jersey remained steadfast in its commitment to the community. Through strategic partnerships, dedicated staff, generous supporters, and careful stewardship of resources, essential programs continued uninterrupted despite significant financial challenges.
Today, the need for the YWCA's services continues to grow. One of the executive committee's immediate priorities is strengthening the organization's financial sustainability through expanded corporate partnerships, philanthropic investment, and community engagement to ensure critical programs remain accessible for years to come.
Community Impact Snapshot
Every year, YWCA Northern New Jersey works across five counties to create opportunities for women, girls, and families through programs focused on leadership development, workforce advancement, survivor services, youth empowerment, racial justice, and community engagement.
Looking Ahead
Throughout the coming year, YWCA Northern New Jersey will launch new opportunities for businesses, foundations, and community members to partner in advancing equity and opportunity throughout Northern New Jersey.
