Montclair State University, Berkeley College, Rutgers University and Atlantic Cape Community College were recently named to Newsweek’s America’s Top Online Colleges list for 2024.
Newsweek collaborated with the global data firm Statista to compile the rankings, which are based on a survey of more than 9,000 online learners as well as the magazine’s own research about the institutions. Newsweek then ranked the top 200 colleges and universities in the U.S. offering online undergraduate and graduate programs.
Montclair University (No. 24), Berkeley College (No. 55), and Rutgers University (No. 74) were all ranked among the Top 100 with a 5-star rating for their online learning programs. Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing (No. 131) was recognized among the Top 200 in the nation.
Respondents shared their experiences by rating the institutions regarding criteria including organization and accessibility, support and service, cost of program, reputation, success, and practical relevance. Respondents also indicated how satisfied they were with the college or university and to what extent they would recommend it to others.
“From comprehensive university degree programs to specialized professional development courses to classes for hobbyists or lifelong learners, the vast expanse of online learning opportunities can be overwhelming,” said Newsweek Global Editor in Chief Nancy Cooper. “For those embarking on a search for high-quality online education, we hope that our ranking is helpful in your quest.”
