Newmark Associates, a leading New Jersey commercial real estate brokerage firm, was recently honored as one of 2023’s three top companies by the Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The Gateway Regional Chamber, established in 1911, serves as an umbrella organization for more than a dozen regional and local chambers and networking groups in northern and central New Jersey with over 1,200 members ranging from Fortune 100 companies to entrepreneurial businesses.
Susanne Newmark, president and CEO of Newmark Associates, accepted the award at the Gateway Chamber’s 111th Annual Awards Dinner.
The cornerstone of her firm’s business philosophy, Newmark said, is to “provide opportunities, whenever possible, to those that have been underrepresented – not only women, but members of the LGBTQ community, people of color, and those experiencing discrimination due to age or physical challenges.”
To this end, Newmark independently initiated projects like the creation of a program with the Newark Public School system to provide internships to students interested in the real estate profession. The company also recently launched CRESDA, a national alliance of commercial real estate firms owned by women and minorities nationwide to offer real estate services to companies that share Newmark’s vision of a diverse, inclusive business environment.
Newmark acknowledged the dedicated work of Ebony Parham, who is Newmark’s representative at the Gateway Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Black Business Alliance and the Gateway Board. Parham has been an active participant at the chamber ever since Newmark Associates joined as a member.
“I can think of no finer representative, the essence of a true professional. It is a privilege to be working alongside Ms. Parham,” Newmark said.
Parham said her focus is building upon Newmark 30-year reputation of excellence.
“When Newmark first became a member of the Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce, I began attending meetings of its 16 affiliate members to lend a listening ear and make a difference by having a presence and giving back, which is the essence of what Susanne Newmark and my colleagues at Newmark Associates do every day,” Parham said.
Newmark echoed that sentiment in her acceptance speech at the Feb. 13 awards dinner.
“No one does it alone. Somewhere along the way someone gave me a hand up and I’m quite sure each of you can relate to that statement, which remains at the foreground of our business mission – to provide opportunity to our clients, customers and communities,” Newmark said.
In addition to Newmark Associates, the Gateway Chamber also honored HBK CPAs & Consultants and the global fintech and payments company, Fisterv. Both companies have multiple New Jersey office locations.
