Cyndie will delve into her journey from being a union carpenter to her current leadership role in the industry, offering insights and experiences along the way.
Meet Our Featured Speakers
Stephanie Staub is the Director of Infrastructure and Energy Sectors Strategy and Workforce Partnerships for the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development. Focused on the NJ Pathways to Career Opportunities initiative, she leads the sector’s statewide inclusive Collaborative as well as two Centers of Workforce Innovation, for Renewable Energy and for Construction.
Stephanie has worked in the construction industry for nearly thirty years, primarily in a labor/management setting with the International Masonry Institute and Architectural Glass Institute. She was a member of Drexel University’s Construction Management Advisory Council and served as adjunct professor for their Glass as a Construction Material course.
Over the years Stephanie has actively participated in a variety of boards and industry organizations, many of which serving in leadership positions. She was Vice President of the Construction Specification Institute’s Philadelphia Chapter and in that role worked closely with the American Society of Professional Estimators. She served on the Board of Directors of the ACE Mentoring Program (Architecture/Construction/Engineering) in both New Jersey and Greater Philadelphia. Stephanie is in the final months of a 12-year stint on the Ewing Board of Education, having served as President and Vice President for nearly half of her years of service.
Cyndie Williams accepted the role as Executive Director of the Carpenter Contractor Trust (CCT) in December 2021. She actively oversees CCT’s partnerships with the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (EASRCC) and signatory contractor organizations to promote and support their shared values, competencies, and ambitions. Cyndie extends this vision across the EASRCC domain, encompassing New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
As the Executive Director, Cyndie is committed to overseeing all CCT’s initiatives, ranging from collaborating with industry partners to developing a diverse workforce. She believes that expanding market share and work hours are vital indicators for the union’s sustained growth and well-being.
Under Cyndie’s guidance, CCT aims to broaden its reach and impact within the construction industry. She considers diversity and equity as essential components of her mission. This emphasis is vital in attracting new talent to foster a robust and prosperous environment for union carpenters and signatory contractors.
This aligns with CCT’s efforts to bolster the engagement of America’s marginalized populations in national matters, encouraging citizens to lead improved lives and advocating for ethically responsible employment strategies. Cyndie supports this effort by promoting the building trades as a promising career path for American youth and advocating for more project labor agreements. Both are important components that add to the development of union jobs.
Cyndie also views clean energy initiatives as vital to maintaining the union’s robust presence in the construction industry. The CCT’s involvement with several clean energy coalitions throughout the council reflect its commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
Cyndie’s leadership is instrumental in steering CCT toward achieving these core objectives, with a focus on the broader vision of building a more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future for the construction industry and the communities it serves.
