The Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey (GSHNJ) this week announced the appointment of Chrissy Buteas as the new chair of the nonprofit’s Board of Directors.
Currently vice president of Government Affairs at Optimum (Altice USA), Buteas has served in leadership positions across the broadband communications and video service provider industry, as well as in business advocacy and community service organizations.
From 2018-2022, Buteas was the chief government affairs officer at NJBIA, where she advocated for pro-business policies and smart economic development. Prior to coming to NJBIA, she served as president and CEO of the Home Care & Hospice Association of New Jersey, a nonprofit that represents the full scope of home care and hospice agencies in the state.
Buteas’ board memberships, including her role on the Board of Trustees of Middlesex College and her involvement with the Northern Board of Junior Achievement, reflect her commitment to education and empowering young people. She also serves on the boards of Focus NJ and the South Jersey Technology Park at Rowan University, a nonprofit working to lead the economic revitalization of southern New Jersey through an integrated program of science and technology initiatives.
“We are honored to welcome Chrissy Buteas as the new chair of our Board of Directors,” the GSHNJ said in a March 18 statement. “Chrissy’s remarkable leadership experience, coupled with her passion for community service and empowerment, will undoubtedly inspire our Girl Scouts and propel our organization forward. We look forward to her guidance and insights as we continue to empower young women to make a positive impact in their communities and the world.”
Chrissy holds an M.P.A. from the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University-Newark and a B.A. from Rowan University. She is a graduate of Leadership NJ and an Eagleton Institute of Politics Alumni Association member.
As chair of the GSHNJ board, Buteas is committed to leveraging her experience, expertise, and passion to inspire a new generation of leaders and to ensure the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey remains a beacon of empowerment, leadership, and community service.
