Monica Hanna, MPH, CHES, NCTTP Monica Hanna, MPH, CHES, NCTTP Assistant Director, RWJ Barnabas Health Institute for Prevention & Recovery Nicotine and Tobacco Recovery Program

Monica Hanna, MPH, CHES, NCTTP is the Assistant Director for the RWJ Barnabas Health Institute for Prevention and Recovery Nicotine and Tobacco Recovery Program. Monica currently oversees the largest state-funded tobacco quit center across 6 counties, including Middlesex, Mercer, Ocean, Monmouth, Union and Essex counties.  She currently leads the system wide strategic planning and implementation for tobacco cessation services. Monica holds a Master in Public Health with a Concentration in Community Health from Montclair State University and has over 13 years of experience working with at-risk populations leading and developing hospital and community-based programs. 

Ashley Smith, CHES Ashley Smith, CHES Program Manager, Tobacco Projects at New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN)

Ashley Smith is the Program Manager for Tobacco Projects at New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN), Co-led by Tobacco Free for a Healthy NJ (TFHNJ) with funding through the NJ Department of Health Office of Tobacco Control and Prevention. TFHNJ engages local coalitions and public health advocates to promote tobacco-free initiatives through New Jerseys Regional Prevention Coalitions. Ashley has been in the field of prevention since 2017 with credentials as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Her passion is to help reduce exposure to secondhand smoke, reduce youth access to tobacco products, help those who do smoke or vape to stop, and to drive statewide and local policy change.
