One of the latest trends from the pandemic finds job seekers revealing their vaccination status on their resumes and on LinkedIn.
In an interview with NJ101.5 News reporter David Matthau, NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka cautioned that such a practice is not a good idea, especially from the standpoint that healthcare information should remain private.
“That’s why we have laws like HIPAA, where we’re not allowed to share medical information with regard to employees,” Siekerka said. “That’s why employers keep health records separate from employment records.”
Siekerka also warned that employers could also be setting themselves up for an unconscious bias when considering vaccinated candidates versus those who don’t list their vaccination status.
