Alice Bergen and Vipin Varghese, two prominent attorneys at DeCotiis FitzPatrick, Cole & Giblin LLC, have been elevated to the position of equity partner, the firm announced this week.
Bergen, a distinguished member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, is an experienced civil litigator who represents clients in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York. She joined DeCotiis in 2004 and became a partner in 2015.
During her nearly 20-year tenure with the firm, Bergen has developed a diverse legal practice that spans multiple disciplines including complex civil litigation, insurance defense, white collar and corporate investigations, pharmaceutical antitrust litigation and investigations, the Open Public Records Act, employment law, and regulatory issues before the Board of Public Utilities.

Varghese, who joined the firm in 2017, has developed a legal practice that crosses several disciplines and made him a subject matter expert in the areas of labor and employment, and employee benefits.
He advises boards of trustees and plan sponsors on all matters of fiduciary responsibility, ERISA compliance, withdrawal liability, bankruptcies, and collections and alter ego litigation matters. He also advises labor organizations, union representatives, and staff on all matters relating to the National Labor Relations Act, collective bargaining agreements, grievances, arbitrations, and elections, and advises all clients on employment matters, employee handbooks, policies, employment agreements, and separation agreements.
