Salary: 68,000-75,000

The New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) is the nation’s largest private statewide employer association. NJBIA provides information, services and advocacy to our members and is widely regarded as the most credible and effective advocate for business in the State. We are currently seeking a full-time experienced professional to join our dynamic government affairs team. This position requires lobbying on behalf of the business community before all areas of government, along with research responsibilities. This position requires a bachelor’s degree, 3 years legislative, government and/or policy research experience and a strong understanding of complex issues concerning public policy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and review legislation and regulations, policy relevant to large and small member businesses.
  • Conduct legislative and economic research, providing analysis on issues and policy matters of legislative and regulatory concern, and provides factual information to inform NJBIA positions on legislation impacting the NJ business community.
  • Lobby members of the Legislature, executive branch staff, and legislative committee staff to affect desired policies effecting legislation and regulation.
  • Testify at legislative hearings and other public speaking opportunities on behalf of the NJ business community.
  • Develop and maintain network of contacts within Legislative and Executive branches.
  • Build relationships with team of experts in the policy areas on which you focus, and other business groups as reliable sources of information and allies on various issues.
  • Attend fundraisers and other political events as necessary.
  • Prepare amendments to legislation and develop policy initiatives impacting business.
  • Communicate anticipated impact of legislation to NJBIA members, Communications Department, Executive and Legislative branches. Assist in social media and other communications as necessary.
  • Support member company engagement through targeted outreach
  • Provide information on key issues to New Jersey news media in consultation with Communications Department staff.
  • Protect Association interests at legislative hearings.
  • Support recruitment efforts for new members and sponsorship sales efforts to raise money for NJBIA.
  • Regularly attend meetings to provide updates on governmental and political activities and represent NJBIA and the business community.
  • Work with other NJBIA departments and staff as necessary to carry out the mission of NJBIA.

About the Role: We are currently seeking a motivated full-time Multi-Media Account Executive to join our dynamic team. In this exciting role, you’ll take the lead in selling print and digital advertising for our flagship magazine, as well as multimedia products, services, event partnerships, and webinars to an established client base. You will craft compelling presentations and proposals that win new business and strengthen relationships with our loyal advertisers. This is a remote role with required monthly in-person meetings at our Trenton office, as well as in-person client visits and networking events. You’ll play a key role in driving growth—prospecting new opportunities through traditional outreach, social media, and creative lead-generation strategies. By staying aware of industry trends and competitive activity, you’ll consistently uncover fresh account leads and help move revenue forward. This position is ideal for a self-motivated, goal-driven sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Candidates should have 2–5 years of demonstrated media sales experience, strong knowledge of media content, and a proven ability to exceed sales goals. You will manage an exclusive account and prospect list, prepare and present multimedia advertising proposals, and work to consistently meet—and aim to exceed—monthly sales targets.   • Bachelors Degree preferred or relevant work experience
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and internal and external contacts.
  • Work with other NJBIA departments and staff to carry out the mission of NJBIA.
