The cable business news channel CNBC is out with its 2017 “Top States for Business” rankings and New Jersey comes in at No. 32. New Jersey does well in education, access to capital and quality of life, but poorly in the cost of doing business and infrastructure.
CNBC uses 60 measures of competitiveness to develop rankings in 10 broad categories. While New Jersey does poorly in rankings on taxes, broader assessments show the state does have some advantages. It is ranked No. 4 in the nation in education, behind only Massachusetts, Minnesota and Connecticut, and is tied for No. 9 in access to capital.
But the state comes in No. 46 when it comes to its aging infrastructure and is tied for No. 45 for the cost of doing business.
