10th Annual Women Business Leaders Forum Register Today!

Businesses and other organizations interested in learning more about how waste reduction, recycling and buying recycled products can help their bottom line as well as the environment are invited to the online fall meeting of the New Jersey WasteWise Business Network next month. 

Anyone is welcome to register to attend the seminar from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1 on the Zoom videoconference platform. Individuals who are New Jersey Certified Recycling Professionals can earn 1.5 recertification credits.

The four short presentations at the meeting will include: 

  • The Booksmiles Donation Program: Advancing the Causes of Reading and Reuse, by Larry Abrams, founder and executive director of Booksmiles 
  • Innovative Reuse and Recycling Programs Emanating from the Plastic Bag Ban: Reusable Bag Program by Renee Lundahl, co-founder, GOATOTE; and the Plastic Film Recycling Program by Stuart Newman, Union County recycling coordinator
  • TerraCycle Home and TerraCycle’s Cigarette Waste Recycling Program by Eric Ascalon, global director of Community Development & Strategic Partnerships for TerraCycle 
  • Bergen New Bridge Medical Center’s Food Waste Reduction Initiatives and Other Successful Waste Reduction and Recycling Initiatives by Scott Kolvek, director Environmental Health and Safety, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and Sabyn Matli, director Food and Nutrition, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center.

The New Jersey WasteWise Business Network is a no-cost program run by the state Department of Environmental Protection designed to help businesses and other organizations learn more about waste reduction, recycling, and recycled product procurement. There is no charge to join the business network.
