U.S. Veterans Magazine has saluted six New Jersey schools on its 2024 Top Veteran-Friendly Schools, annual rankings that recognize outstanding colleges, universities and postsecondary institutions that serve military and veteran students and their families.

All six New Jersey institutions are also NJBIA members:

  • Berkeley College, which has campuses in Newark, Woodbridge, Woodland Park and New York City
  • Kean University, which has campuses in Union, Toms River, Manahawkin, Lincroft and China.

According to DiversityComm Media, the publisher of U.S. Veterans Magazine, rankings are based on evaluations of U.S. employers, law enforcement agencies, veteran outreach programs, and schools. The results are a valuable resource for transitioning veterans, job seekers, business owners, students, and consumers.

“We strive to encourage other companies to follow the lead and ultimately create a workforce that is supportive to our veteran community,” said Mona Lisa Faris, president and publisher of U.S. Veterans Magazine.

In a statement issued on Thursday after the 2024 rankings were announced, Berkeley College noted its four on-site Veterans Resource Centers – in Newark, Woodbridge, Woodland Park, and New York City. Berkeley also has an Online Veterans Resource Center that serves online students and active service members stationed overseas.

“At Berkeley College, our military community stands as a symbol of resilience and camaraderie, enriching our classrooms with diverse perspectives and global insights,” said Tami Pichardo, senior director, Office of Military and Veterans Affairs, Berkeley College. “The Berkeley College Office of Military and Veterans Affairs is proud to support and engage our student-veterans, active military, and their families as they transition to successful careers as civilians.”

Berkeley College supports the post-9/11 GI Bill and provides Yellow Ribbon grants to all eligible recipients. The College has partnered with the Department of Defense for all Military Tuition Assistance (TA) programs. The Military TA rate is extended to active duty, National Guard, Reserves, and their spouses for all degree programs.

Berkeley College also has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report among the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans for 11 consecutive years, as well as by publications including Military Advanced Education & Transition and Military Times.
