Legislation supported by NJBIA that will double New Jersey’s payment into the Shore Protection Fund to $50 million is making its way through the Senate.
As reported by NJ101.5 News’ Michael Symons, funds from the program can be used as a local share of beach replenishment projects by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or for building and maintaining bulkheads, jetties and seawalls.
“The Jersey Shore is too important to not do this project,” said NJBIA Vice President of Government Affairs Ray Cantor. “I really can think of no better to spend 25 million additional dollars than to protect this jewel of New Jersey and to maintain our economy and our way of life in this state.”
