Yesterday, Dr. Lamont Repollet was interviewed and approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee, regarding his nomination to serve as the Commissioner of the Department of Education. He now awaits approval before the full Senate, which is likely to take place in early April.
Much of the discussion during the hearing focused on school funding, school safety, the direction of the Murphy administration in respect to school choice and Dr. Repollet’s accomplishments as the Superintendent of the Asbury Park School District. Additionally, Dr. Repollet is scheduled to present the Department of Education’s FY 2019 budget before both the Senate and Assembly budget committees on April 17 and 23, respectively.
