NJBIA Chief Government Affairs Officer Christopher Emigholz issued the following statement in response to a school funding plan that would result in property tax relief announced by Assembly Minority Leader John DiMaio today.
“NJBIA commends any property tax relief efforts such as the school funding reform proposed today, especially if it results in much needed property tax relief for New Jersey residents AND businesses.
“New Jersey has the highest property taxes in the nation, with our employers paying about half of that enormous burden – all while being excluded from the ANCHOR property tax relief program.
“NJBIA has long called for a comprehensive reform agenda to address the structural challenges that have hindered our great state’s ability to be more affordable and regionally competitive. Any and all efforts to provide New Jersey with a pathway toward broad tax relief are greatly welcome and needed.
“NJBIA looks forward to working with the sponsors of the bill and the Legislature to help provide real property tax relief for everyone, through structural reforms and spending reductions.”
