The co-directors of the hit 2024 film “Mean Girls” are leading the free Yes Bus Acting Camp this summer in New York City for selected high school students from New York and New Jersey.
With mentorship, celebrity guests, and a mission to uplift youth, especially those from underserved communities in New Jersey and New York, the Yes Bus Acting Camp will provide a platform for aspiring performers in film and television to grow and shine.
The two-week camp will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays from July 7–18. There is no cost to attend; however, campers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from Midtown Manhattan.
Teens aged 14 to 18 can apply by submitting an online application and a 1-minute to 3-minute monologue by midnight on June 15. For more information and to submit the online application, go here. Selected applicants will be notified via email on or before June 22.
The camp is funded and led by “Mean Girls” co-directors Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne, whose mission is to give young artists, especially those from underserved communities, the confidence, tools, and knowledge about acting that they might not normally have access to.
The program launched in Los Angeles and its debut in New York City this summer is a major step in ensuring that all students have an equal shot at pursuing their dreams in acting. The camp is entirely free of charge, covering professional headshots, all resources, and meals.
“This camp is more than just learning to act, it’s about giving them the confidence and support they need to believe in themselves and their potential,” said Perez.
The deadline to apply is June 15 and the exact location of the camp in Midtown Manhattan will be disclosed to the selected students.
