JerseyCAN, a nonprofit working to improve the quality of education for all children in the state, is currently recruiting a new cohort of fellows for both its New Jersey Teacher Leader Policy Fellowship and its Parent Champions for Strong Schools Fellowship.
Over one year, Fellows study the New Jersey education policy landscape, hone their advocacy skills, and achieve a short-term goal. In addition to engaging in high-quality professional learning and networking opportunities, Fellows receive a $2,500 stipend for their commitment to this work.
Applications for both the Teacher Policy Leader Fellowship and Parent Champions for Strong Schools Fellowship are due by Sept. 23. Both applications can be accessed here.
Participants in the fellowship programs will work with their fellow teachers and parents, as well as across fellowships, and be supported in taking action at the state or local level in one or more of these key priority areas:
- Innovation: Designing and expanding creative, research-informed approaches to teaching, learning, and school design that respond to the evolving needs of students, families, and communities.
- Career Pathways: Advancing opportunities that prepare students for postsecondary success in both college and careers, such as early earning of college credit while in high school, apprenticeships, and industry-aligned learning experiences.
- Foundational ELA & Math: Strengthening early and sustained instruction in math and literacy to ensure all students build the essential skills they need to thrive academically.
