Tony Bawidamann, a seasoned expert in government and regulatory affairs and advocacy, has been named Chair of the New Jersey Organization for a Better State (NEW JOBS) PAC, the leading political voice for business in the state.
NEW JOBS is the State’s largest and most influential business political action committee. It is a nonpartisan organization whose trustees promote a pro-business climate in New Jersey by endorsing and supporting legislative candidates who actively support economic growth, the creation of private-sector jobs, and the lowering of business costs.
Since 2019, Bawidamann has served as Vice President of Government Affairs for Comcast NBCU, developing, and implementing state government affairs campaigns. He also has directed and managed government and regulatory programs for large companies including Bristol Myers Squibb, McDonald’s, Verizon, LS Power, Lennar Homes, MTV, and Hudson News.
As Vice President of Public Affairs at MWW Group from 2005-2009, Bawidamann led multiple high-profile public affairs campaigns for national and New Jersey-based clients.
“Tony brings a great wealth of legislative, campaign and public affairs experience to the NEW JOBS PAC,” said NEW JOBS Executive Director Ray Cantor. “His determination and enthusiasm will be of great benefit to New Jersey’s business community which has come to expect nothing less than our staunch advocacy in Trenton. We are excited to have Tony leading our efforts.”
“Creating a supportive business climate will result in a better economy and growing businesses while attracting others to relocate here,” Bawidamann said. “I look forward to leading the NEW JOBS PAC and working to elect candidates that will help build a robust economy in the state.”
Earlier in his career, Bawidamann worked for Strategic Policy Advisors, leading legislative initiatives for the New Jersey-based law firm of Florio, Perrucci, Steinhardt & Fader. He also led political campaigns for Senate President Steve Sweeney (2001), Assemblyman John Burzichelli (2001), Senator Paul Sarlo (2003) and Gary Schaer (2005).
Bawidamann previously served as a legislative assistant for former Congressmen Charles Bennett, Earl Hutto and Robert Wexler. At the state level, he served as chief of staff for Florida Representative Ben Graber and led the South Carolina House Caucus as executive director.
Bawidamann holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida State University and a master’s degree in political management from George Washington University, where he has also served as an adjunct professor.
He resides in Haddonfield with his wife, Deb, and 16-year-old son, Parker.
